SMART Humidity Measurement and Control

Ever noticed high levels of condensation on the inside of your windows? This could be a sign of high moisture levels in the air of your residential or commercial property. This can sometimes lead to mold growth on walls and other places. Wouldn’t it be great if you could be informed that your residential or commercial property has a high humidity level and get updates on your mobile phone of the situation.

I think we are all aware the mould in a property is not healthy and something that must be tackled before the situation becomes damaging to the long-term integrity of the property and even worse exposing persons living or working in these environments to unhealthy conditions. The UK Government has recently changed the legislation in this domain to help mitigate risks associated with the conditions mentioned above.

At HayMacs we like to aid businesses, landlords and tenants alike to proactively monitor and manage the environment factors that can affect the humidity levels in a property. Our solution proactively monitors the moisture levels in a property and can trigger actions to course correct the factors that can lead to severe damp or mould growth.

The first thing we recommend is to place temperature and humidity sensors in key regions of your home (ideally one device in each room). You can use these sensors to understand the humidity levels of your home and then decide on how to act to avoid continuous high air moisture levels. It also may be the case that these sensors can indicate some other underlying causes of dampness such as an underfloor water pipe leak for example.

These devices are available now on our www.haymacs.co.uk shop – See here.

These devices are very useful in identification of high moisture levels but how do we affect change to help avoid severe damp or mould to develop? Two possible ways are to introduce more heat into the property or to switch on a dehumidifying device to absorb the air moisture. HayMacs provides switching devices to activate heaters or dehumidifying devices. Coupled with the temperature and humidity sensor information, HayMacs can automate the switching of these devices to keep humidity conditions in check.

However, HayMacs also have an AI (Artificial Intelligence) based learning service that can be activated to help you optimize the conditions of your room. The solution balances when to heat or dehumidify the room but seeking to reduce the consumption of energy at the same time. For example, as soon as the sensors indicate that the humidity reading is too high it signals to switch on a heater or a dehumidifier to help avoid the buildup of the conditions for mould to develop.
